One of my anxiety coach’s assignments for me this week is to write out a list of things that bring me joy. That way when I get into an anxiety spiral or bad headspace, I can choose something from that list that will help bring me some joy in that moment. That seems so simple but it’s quite revolutionary. It’s revolutionary to know what brings you joy and to seek it. In an effort to feed two birds with one scone (writing this weekly newsletter & doing my assignment) here is my list of joy!
1. Going on a long walk and talking to my sister
2. Baking pb cookies and listening to Coldplay
3. Dancing: specifically with headphones in, music turned way up, allowing myself to be wild
4. Hiking with friends: especially with friends who allow for an equal ratio of silence and chit chat
5. Working out: Zumba, dance classes, cycling
6. Cooking a healthy meal and listening to a podcast or audiobook
7. Writing: with a candle lit & a snack
8. Petting a cat (honestly even seeing a cat brings me joy)
9. Going to a fancy grocery store: I love looking at cute packaging and getting myself a little treat
10. Decluttering and rearranging my space
Go create your own list of things that bring you joy.
Joyfully revolt,
Emily
